2013 WEPA Scholarship Winners

The WEPA Foundation Inc board is pleased to announce their 2013 AAEP scholarship winners. UW-Madison senior veterinary student Kara Gebhardt-Tessman and junior veterinary student Chelsea Crawford are selected to each receive a $ 500 scholarship award. The money is to be used toward expenses incurred in attending the 2013 AAEP annual convention being held in Nashville, TN December 7-11.

Attendees to AAEP’s 59th Annual Convention will have educational opportunities ranging from practice management advice to actual “how to” sessions. Featured speaker on Sunday is legendary horseman and clinician Buck Brannaman. According to the registration materials, additional educational programs offered will give student veterinarians the opportunity to:

  • Attend educational dry labs providing hands-on experience with surgery, reproduction, internal medicine, imaging and more, including:
    • Perfecting Suturing Skills
    • Reproduction: Biopsies, Cultures, AI
    • Foal Medicine Skills
    • Distal Limb Imaging Interpretation
    • Distal Limb Ultrasound Anatomy
  • A professional development course focused on hot topics facing veterinary students transitioning to new graduates in today’s economy.
  • Participating in an equine veterinary quiz bowl to tap into their competitive side

This year, in addition to the two selected scholarship recipients, the WEPA Foundation is awarding $500 to the Student Chapter of the AAEP to assist other veterinary students in attending the 2013 AAEP convention.
