2014 WEPA Scholarship Winners

WEPA Foundation and its members are please to announce the three recipients of the 2014 Memorial Scholarships. Each October UW- Madison third and fourth year veterinary students are invited to apply for the scholarships to be used to attend the annual AAEP conventions held in December. This year’s winners are:

Shannon Roska

Shannon Roska
Shannon grew up in a suburb of Milwaukee, riding and showing horses since she was four years old. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, completing a Bachelor of Science degree in neurobiology and psychology. During her undergraduate career, she competed in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association as a member of the Wisconsin Equestrian Team.

Currently a third year veterinary student at the UW-Madison SVM, she hopes to complete an equine internship and surgical residency following graduation. Outside of school she enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, camping, and kayaking in the warmer months or cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter.

For the past year and a half, most of her free time has been spent rehabilitating and training a seven-year-old OTTB. And, as a Wisconsin native, Shannon is a Wisconsin Badgers fan and a devoted member of the Green Bay Packer Nation.

Lauren PaschLauren Pasch
Lauren is a Wisconsin native who lived in Boston, Massachusetts before moving back to Wisconsin to attend veterinary school. After graduation in May 2015, she is excited to start a one-year internship at Rhinebeck Equine, a private practice located in Rhinebeck, NY.

Alex RadtkeAlex Radtke
Alex hails from Hayward, Wisconsin. She grew up showing quarter horses and paints in gaming and western pleasure shows. In high school she worked at a cutting horse training center. She absolutely loved the experience and continued to train and show cutting horses there for a number of years. The passion she has for horses led her to attend UW-River Falls where she earned a bachelors degree in Bio-Medical Sciences.

Currently a 3rd year veterinary student at UW-Madison, Alex is working towards a career in equine medicine. She has a strong interest in lameness and would like to pursue a residency in large animal surgery.

WEPA Foundation and WEPA Inc members offer their congratulations to these scholarship winners.
