President Mary Krempasky brought the meeting to order. Minutes from the September 21, 2012 meeting were approved. The treasurer’s report was reviewed and approved as submitted.

Old Business:

Dr Wes Elford gave a report on the WEPA Foundation. The two students receiving the scholarships to attend the 2012 AAEP convention were in attendance. Kathryn Livesay and Lauren Zappitelli each gave a brief commentary about their experiences at the convention. Recapping some of their favorite talks, they enjoyed the following:

  • State of the Art meeting, dealing with muscle diseases
  • Walking horses
  • Neonatal
  • Dentistry
  • Critical field emergencies
  • Ultrasound seminar

They also attended the President’s meeting.

New Business:

Jennifer Lorenz was nominated and elected to the WEPA board of directors as the new Delegate at Large.

Judy Batker spoke about the equitarian awards to be given by the WEPA Foundation. She read from several of the letters she had received from students interested in attending equitarian opportunities in the summer. Names were chosen by random selection from those letters, with $ 500 scholarships being awarded to Marsha Bush and Teresa Linder.

Wes Elford offered a thank you Jim Schwisow for his help in maintaining the foundation scholarship plaque on display in the vet school at UW-Madison. Dr Schwisow takes care of getting the scholarship winners’ names engraved and placed on the plaque at his own expense. His efforts are greatly appreciated by all.

Suzanne McKichan was nominated and elected to a 3-year term to the Foundation Board, replacing Judy Batker whose term expired.

Motion to adjourn.

Respectfully submitted,

Rob Blohowiak, Vice President
